The portfolio is led by VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), a private cloud platform that seamlessly unifies and integrates siloed IT architectures. Broadcom completed the acquisition of VMware in 2023 and has since revamped VMware’s distribution and partner programs to have a more focused approach that is aligned with Broadcom’s global strategy.
“This is a significant win for us locally, creating new opportunities both here and beyond," said Dave Rosenberg, Managing Director, Westcon-Comstor New Zealand.
Rosenberg added that the partnership strengthens Westcon-Comstor's commitment to delivering innovative and premium products to local customers, with the added benefit of exclusive availability as a trusted distributor.
The partnership is set to significantly boost New Zealand's technology landscape by providing businesses with unparalleled access to advanced VMware solutions, backed by Westcon-Comstor’s decades of data, industry expertise and knowledge to drive digital transformation and support the growth of local customers.
In an interview with CRN Asia in November 2024, Patrick Aronson, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President for APAC at Westcon-Comstor stated that the distributor’s partnership with Broadcom in the Asia Pacific region is built on their relationship with Symantec and Carbon Black.
Westcon-Comstor was made the exclusive aggregator for Broadcom’s Symantec cybersecurity portfolio, from North Asia into Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The distributor also announced a collaboration with Broadcom to leverage the Symantec and Carbon Black portfolio to drive accelerated growth, significant profitability, and grow recurring revenues for channel partners across India.
The new partnership with VMware Broadcom signals the confidence Broadcom has about the opportunities the partnership will bring to the New Zealand market. This collaboration with Westcon-Comstor enables a more streamlined and focused distribution network, empowering businesses with industry-leading technology, fostering innovation, and growth across the region.
Last year, Westcon-Comstor New Zealand increased its revenue from NZ$178.4 million to NZ$198 million, with profit after tax rising from NZ$2.2 million to NZ$5.9 million as noted in Westcon-Comstor’s financial results for FY24, putting the business in a strong position for further growth.
