NTT Data and Google Cloud expand partnership in APAC
NTT Data has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate the adoption of cloud-based data analytics and GenAI solutions for customers in the region.
Given the growth of GenAI in Asia Pacific, NTT DATA has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate the adoption of cloud-based data analytics and GenAI solutions for customers in the region.
Both Google Cloud and NTT DATA have already been working with customers in Asia Pacific in digital journey. The expansion of the partnership will see NTT DATA’s technology and industry expertise as well as client base of large enterprises combined with Google Cloud’s best-in-class data analytics, AI, and cloud capabilities.
The partnership is expected to empower enterprises to spearhead innovation, enhance operational efficiency and agility and propel their business. Core to the partnership will be the co-innovation both the tech companies aim to achieve for specific industries. Using NTT DATA’s existing industry blueprints, best practices and cloud solutions on Google Cloud, customers can expect more customized solutions in healthcare, life sciences, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, retail and public sectors.
NTT DATA also announced the introduction of a dedicated NTT DATA Google Cloud Business Unit. The unit will focus on developing joint solutions that are focused on data analytics and GenAI. It will also provide augmented support for applications and modern infrastructure, cybersecurity, and SAP on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The partnership will boost NTT DATA’s in-house expertise in Google Cloud technologies with advanced training and certification programs to ensure effective implementation of the solutions.
NTT DATA will also be hiring and upskilling sales, pre-sales and delivery professionals on Google Cloud, equipping them to effectively sell, build, secure, migrate and deliver joint solutions to benefit customers. With 2,600 Google-certified engineers in 50 countries, NTT DATA plans to certify at least 1,000 more in the APAC region.
Responding to market demand
GenAI deployments across the APAC region are expected to fuel growing demand for modern cloud infrastructure. In a report by Gartner, worldwide end-user spending on public cloud services in 2024 is forecast to total US$679 billion and is projected to exceed US$1 trillion in 2027. As such, strategic partnerships in the region between tech vendors is imperative for ensuring a smooth modernization journey.
According to John Lombard, Chief Executive Officer, APAC, at NTT DATA, the expanded partnership brings together NTT DATA’s expertise in digital transformation and deep-rooted understanding of APAC’s diverse markets with Google Cloud’s unparalleled AI and cloud innovations.
“This isn’t just about adopting new technologies; it’s about reimagining what’s possible for businesses in the AI age. Our partner ecosystem is a cornerstone of our growth strategy, and this collaboration with Google Cloud is expected to grow our cloud business in APAC by more than ten times in three years,” said Lombard.
Echoing his sentiments is Karan Bajwa, Vice President, APAC, at Google Cloud. Bajwa commented that customer confidence is paramount to deliver on their digital transformation aspirations.

Meanwhile, Charlie Li, Senior Executive Vice President, Global Head of Cloud and Security Services at NTT DATA mentioned that the expanded partnership with Google Cloud is a significant step forward in delivering innovative solutions that address the industry-specific challenges that customers are facing.
“By combining NTT DATA’s unique full-stack transformation portfolio with Google Cloud’s next-generation technologies, we are poised to accelerate our client’s digital modernization priorities, particularly in areas like cloud, GenAI and cybersecurity,” added Li.
NTT DATA also highlighted that its partnership with Google enabled a major retailer to grow 22% in digital inquiries and increase occupancy by 85% through efficient use of extracted API data. These are just some of the capabilities that will be achieved through the expanded partnership, especially with robust data analytics essential for successful deployments.
